Classes

Which pilates classes do you offer?

Four formats: group reformer pilates in small groups, mat pilates, private (1:1) pilates and duet pilates, a private session for two people.

What is the difference between reformer and mat pilates?

Both follow the same principles. Mat pilates uses your own body weight and gravity, while the reformer uses springs that can either add resistance or offer support. Many people combine the two. Our pilates guide explains the differences in more detail.

How do group, private and duet sessions differ?

A group reformer class is shared with other participants in a small group. A private session is just you and the instructor, planned around you. A duet session is a private session for two people, so you share it with a friend, partner or family member.

I’m new to pilates. Can I start at Pi Stüdyo Pilates?

Yes, you don’t need any previous experience. Tell us about your experience and goals when you get in touch, and we’ll help you choose a format, whether that’s a group class, mat pilates or a private session to learn the basics first. Health matters are best discussed with your instructor in person at your first session.

What equipment does the studio have?

The studio is equipped with classical pilates apparatus: the reformer, the cadillac (also called the trapeze table) and the chair, often known as the Wunda chair.

How early should I arrive?

Before you come

What should I wear and bring?

Wear comfortable, close-fitting sportswear and bring clean socks, which are required at the studio for hygiene and safety. A water bottle is a good idea, and phones are kept on silent during sessions.

Can I do pilates if I have a health condition, am pregnant or am recovering from an injury?

Please consult your doctor before you start. Tell your instructor about any health condition, and keep them updated if anything changes. Pilates classes are exercise sessions and are not a substitute for medical care.

How often should I practise?

There is no single answer: it depends on your goals, your schedule and how your body responds. A steady rhythm you can keep up matters more than intensity, so talk it through with your instructor.
